Bhagavad Gita: Chapter 10/Verse 35

बृहत्साम तथा साम्नां गायत्री छन्दसामहम् ।

मासानां मार्गशीर्षोऽहमृतूनां कुसुमाकरः ॥१०- ३५॥

bṛhatsāma tathā sāmnāṃ gāyatrī chandasāmaham ।

māsānāṃ mārgaśīrṣo'hamṛtūnāṃ kusumākaraḥ ॥10- 35॥

Thus, I am the Brhatsaman of chants, the Gayatri of metres, Margashirsha of months, [and] spring of the seasons. 


bṛhatsāma (neuter, nominative, singular) = the Brhatsaman (a type of Vedic melody)

tathā (adverb) (indeclinable) = thus

sāmnām (neuter, genitive, plural) = of chants

gāyatrī (feminine, nominative, singular) = the Gayatri 

chandasām (neuter, genitive, plural) = of metres 

aham (pronoun, 1st person, nominative, singular) = I 

māsānām (masculine, genitive, plural) = of months 

mārgaśīrṣas = the month of Margashirsha (roughly November-December) 

aham (pronoun, 1st person, nominative, singular) = I 

ṛtūnām (masculine, gentive, plural) = of seasons 

kusumākaras (masculine, nominative, singular) = spring
