Bhagavad Gita: Chapter 12/Verse 1

अर्जुन उवाच

एवं सततयुक्ता ये भक्तास्त्वां पर्युपासते ।


ये चाप्यक्षरमव्यक्तं तेषां के योगवित्तमाः ॥१२- १॥


arjuna uvāca


evaṃ satatayuktā ye bhaktāstvāṃ paryupāsate ।


ye cāpyakṣaramavyaktaṃ teṣāṃ ke yogavittamāḥ ॥12- 1॥




Arjuna said, thus between those who are the constantly steadfast and those devoted ones who worship you, the eternal, non-manifest, which of them is the most proficient in yoga? 


arjunas (masculine, nominative, singular) = Arjuna 


uvāca (past tense, 3rd person, singular) = one said


evam (adverb) (indeclinable) = thus


satata (adverb) (indeclinable) = constant 


yuktās (past passive participle, masculine, nominative, plural) = steadfast 


ye (pronoun, 3rd person, masculine, nominative, plural) = who


bhaktās (past passive participle, masculine, nominative, plural) = devoted 


tvām (pronoun, 2nd person, accusative, singular) = you


paryupāsate (present tense, 3rd person, plural) = they worship


ye (pronoun, 3rd person, masculine, nominative, plural) = who


ca (conjunction) (indeclinable) = and 


api (adverb) (indeclinable) = also


akṣaram (masculine, accusative, singular) = eternal 


avyaktam (past passive participle, masculine, accusative, singular) = non-manifest  


teṣām (pronoun, 3rd person, masculine, genitive, plural) = of them 


ke (interrogative, masculine, nominative, plural) = which  


yogavittamās (yogavid + tamās) (masculine, nominative, plural) = the most proficient with yoga
