Bhagavad Gita: Chapter 12/Verse 18

समः शत्रौ च मित्रे च तथा मानापमानयोः ।

शीतोष्णसुखदुःखेषु समः सङ्गविवर्जितः ॥१२- १८॥

samaḥ śatrau ca mitre ca tathā mānāpamānayoḥ ।

śītoṣṇasukhaduḥkheṣu samaḥ saṅgavivarjitaḥ ॥12- 18॥

The same in enemy and friend, in honor and disgrace, in cold and heat, pain and pleasure, thus the same freed from attachment.


samas (masculine, nominative, singular) = the same 

śatrau (masculine, locative, singular) = in enemy 

ca (conjunction) (indeclinable) = and 

mitre (masculine, locative, singular) = in friend 

ca (conjunction) (indeclinable) = and 

tathā (adverb) (indeclinable) = thus

mānāpamānayos (māna + apamānayos) (masculine, locative, dual) = in honor and disgrace 

śītoṣṇasukhaduḥkheṣu (śīta + uṣṇa + sukha + duḥkheṣu) (neuter, locative, plural) = in cold and heat, pain and pleasure 

samas (masculine, nominative, singular) = the same 

saṅgavivarjitas (saṅga + vivarjitas) (masculine, nominative, singular) = freed from attachment
