Bhagavad Gita: Chapter 14/Verse 8

तमस्त्वज्ञानजं विद्धि मोहनं सर्वदेहिनाम् ।

प्रमादालस्यनिद्राभिस्तन्निबध्नाति भारत ॥१४- ८॥


tamastvajñānajaṃ viddhi mohanaṃ sarvadehinām ।

pramādālasyanidrābhistannibadhnāti bhārata ॥14- 8॥

But you must know tamas, born of ignorance, is the confusion of all the embodied ones. By distraction, laziness, and sleepiness that [tamas] fetters, Descendant of the Bharata. 



tamas (neuter, accusative, singular) = tamas 


tu (conjunction) (indeclinable) = but 


ajñānajam (neuter, accusative, singular) = born of ignorance  


viddhi (imperative, 2nd person, singular) = you must know 


mohanam (neuter, accusative, singular) = confusion 


sarvadehinām (sarva + dehinām) (masculine, genitive, plural) = of all the embodied ones  



pramādālasyanidrābhis (pramāda + ālasya + nidrābhis) (feminine, instrumental, plural) = by distraction, laziness, and sleepiness

tad (pronoun, 3rd person, neuter, nominative, singular) = that 


nibadhnāti (present tense, 3rd person, singular) = it fetters 


bhārata (masculine, vocative, singular) = Descendent of Bharata
