Bhagavad Gita: Chapter 13/Verse 1

श्रीभगवानुवाच

इदं शरीरं कौन्तेय क्षेत्रमित्यभिधीयते ।

एतद्यो वेत्ति तं प्राहुः क्षेत्रज्ञ इति तद्विदः ॥१३- १॥

śrībhagavānuvāca
idaṃ śarīraṃ kaunteya kṣetramityabhidhīyate ।

etadyo vetti taṃ prāhuḥ kṣetrajña iti tadvidaḥ ॥13- 1॥

The Blessed Lord said, "This body is the field, O Son of Kunti." 
They who know that declared that, "The one who knows this is called the one who knows the field."


śrībhagavān (masculine, nominative, singular) = the Blessed Lord

uvāca (past tense, 3rd person, singular) = one said

idam (pronoun, neuter, nominative, singular) = this

śarīram (neuter, nominative, singular) = body 

kaunteya (masculine, vocative, singular) = O Son of Kunti

kṣetram (neuter, nominative, singular) = field 

iti (punctuation) (indeclinable) = (quotation marks) 

abhidhīyate (present tense, passive, 3rd person, singular) = it is called

etad (pronoun, 3rd person, neuter, accusative, singular) = this 

yas (pronoun, 3rd person, masculine, nominative, singular) = the one who

vetti (present tense, 3rd person, singular) = one knows 

tam (pronoun, 3rd person, masculine, accusative, singular) = that

prāhus (past tense, 3rd person, plural) = they declared  

kṣetrajñas (masculine, nominative, singular) = one who knows the field  

iti (punctuation) (indeclinable) = (quotation marks) 

tadvidas (masculine, nominative, plural) = they who know that
