Bhagavad Gita: Chapter 14/Verse 12

लोभः प्रवृत्तिरारम्भः कर्मणामशमः स्पृहा ।

रजस्येतानि जायन्ते विवृद्धे भरतर्षभ ॥१४- १२॥

lobhaḥ pravṛttirārambhaḥ karmaṇāmaśamaḥ spṛhā ।

rajasyetāni jāyante vivṛddhe bharatarṣabha ॥14- 12॥

Greed, activity, undertaking of actions, lack of calmness; when rajas is dominant, these arise, Bull of the Bharatas. 


lobhas (masculine, nominative, singular) = greed

pravṛttis (feminine, nominative, singular) = activity 

ārambhas (masculine, nominative, singular) = undertaking 

karmaṇām (neuter, genitive, plural) = of actions 

aśamas (masculine, nominative, singular) = lack of calmness 

spṛhā (feminine, nominative, singular) = desire

rajasi (neuter, locative, singular) = in rajas

etāni (neuter, nominative, plural) = these 

jāyante (present tense, 3rd person, plural) = they arise 

vivṛddhe (neuter, locative, singular) = when dominant 

bharatarṣabha (masculine, vocative, singular) = Bull of the Bharatas (epithet of Arjuna)
