Bhagavad Gita: Chapter 18/Verse 19

बुद्धेर्भेदं धृतेश्चैव गुणतस्त्रिविधं शृणु ।

प्रोच्यमानमशेषेण पृथक्त्वेन धनंजय ॥१८- २९॥


jñānaṃ karma ca kartā ca tridhaiva guṇabhedataḥ ।



procyate guṇasaṃkhyāne yathāvacchṛṇu tānyapi ॥18- 19॥

Knowledge, action, and the agent are threefold and indeed determined by the gunas. It is declared in the guna doctrine. You must properly hear even these. 



jñānaṃ (neuter, nominative, singular) = knowledge 


karma (neuter, nominative, singular) = action 


ca (conjunction) (indeclinable) = and


kartā (masculine, nominative, singular) = agent 


ca (conjunction) (indeclinable) = and


tridhā (feminine, nominative, singular) = threefold 


eva (adverb) (indeclinable) = indeed


guṇabhedatas (guṇa + bhedatas) (neuter, locative, singular) = determined by the gunas 


procyate (present tense, passive, 3rd person, singular) = it is declared


guṇasaṃkhyāne (guṇa + saṃkhyāne) (neuter, locative, singular) = in the guna doctrine 


yathāvat (adverb) (indeclinable) = properly 


śṛṇu (imperative, 2nd person, singular) = you must hear  


tāni (neuter, accusative, plural) = these 


api (adverb) (indeclinable) = even
