Bhagagavad Gita: Chapter 17/Verse 7

आहारस्त्वपि सर्वस्य त्रिविधो भवति प्रियः ।

यज्ञस्तपस्तथा दानं तेषां भेदमिमं शृणु ॥१७- ७॥

āhārastvapi sarvasya trividho bhavati priyaḥ ।

yajñastapastathā dānaṃ teṣāṃ bhedamimaṃ śṛṇu ॥17- 7॥

But also the preferred food of all three kinds is sacrifice, austerity, and gift. You must hear this distinction between them. 


āhāras (masculine, nominative, singular) = food

tu (conjunction) (indeclinable) = but 

api (adverb) (indeclinable) = also

sarvasya (masculine, genitive, singular) = of all 

trividhas (masculine, nominative, singular) = of three kinds 

bhavati (present tense, 3rd person, singular) = it is  

priyas (masculine, nominative, singular) = preferred

yajñas (masculine, nominative, singular) = sacrifice 

tapas (neuter, nominative, singular) = austerity 

tathā (adverb) (indeclinable) = and

dānam (neuter, nominative, singular) = gift 

teṣām (masculine, genitive, plural) = of them 

bhedam (masculine, accusative, singular) = distinction 

imam (masculine, accusative, singular) = this 

śṛṇu (imperative, 2nd person, singular) = you must hear this
