Bhagavad Gita: Chapter 18/Verse 7

नियतस्य तु संन्यासः कर्मणो नोपपद्यते ।


मोहात्तस्य परित्यागस्तामसः परिकीर्तितः ॥१८- ७॥

niyatasya tu saṃnyāsaḥ karmaṇo nopapadyate ।

mohāttasya parityāgastāmasaḥ parikīrtitaḥ ॥18- 7॥

But renunciation of the mandatory action is not proper. From delusion the abandonment of this is declared as tamasic. 


niyatasya (neuter, genitive, singular) = of the mandatory 

tu (conjunction) (indeclinable) = but 

saṃnyāsas (masculine, nominative, singular) = renunciation  

karmaṇas (neuter, genitive, singular) = of action 

na (adverb) (indeclinable) = not 

upapadyate (present tense, 3rd person, singular) = it is proper 


mohāt (masculine, ablative, singular) = from delusion 

tasya (neuter, genitive, singular) = of this 

parityāgas (masculine, nominative, singular) = abandonment 

tāmasas (neuter, nominative, singular) = tamasic 

parikīrtitas (past passive participle, masculine, nominative, singular) = declared
