Bhagavad Gita: Chapter 17/Verse 11

अफलाकाङ्क्षिभिर्यज्ञो विधिदृष्टो य इज्यते ।

यष्टव्यमेवेति मनः समाधाय स सात्त्विकः ॥१७- ११॥

aphalākāṅkṣibhiryajño vidhidṛṣṭo ya ijyate ।


yaṣṭavyameveti manaḥ samādhāya sa sāttvikaḥ ॥17- 11॥


The scripture observing sacrifice which is sacrificed by those not desiring fruit.The mind having concentrated, "indeed it is to be sacrificed," that [sacrifice] is sattvic.


aphalākāṅkṣibhis (aphala + akāṅkṣibhis) (masculine, instrumental, plural) = by those not desiring fruit

yajñas (masculine, nominative, singular) = sacrifice 

vidhidṛṣṭas (past passive participle, masculine, nominative, singular) = scripture observing 

yas (pronoun, 3rd person, masculine, nominative, singular) = which

ijyate (present tense, passive, 3rd person, singular) = it is sacrificed 



yaṣṭavyam (gerundive, neuter, accusative, singular) = to be sacrificed 

eva (adverb) (indeclinable) = indeed 

iti (punctuation) (indeclinable) = (close quotes) 

manas (neuter, nominative, singular) = mind 

samādhāya (gerund) (indeclinable) = having concentrated 

sas (pronoun, 3rd person, masculine, nominative, singular) = that one 

sāttvikas (masculine, nominative, singular) = sattvic
