Bhagavad Gita: Chapter 16/Verse 24

तस्माच्छास्त्रं प्रमाणं ते कार्याकार्यव्यवस्थितौ ।


ज्ञात्वा शास्त्रविधानोक्तं कर्म कर्तुमिहार्हसि ॥१६- २४॥

tasmācchāstraṃ pramāṇaṃ te kāryākāryavyavasthitau ।

jñātvā śāstravidhānoktaṃ karma kartumihārhasi ॥16- 24॥

Therefore having known your standard scripture, the determinations of what is to be done and what is not to be done, here you are able to do action declared by scriptural injunction. 


tasmāt (masculine, ablative, singular) = therefore 

śāstram (neuter, accusative, singular) = scripture  

pramāṇam (neuter, accusative, singular) = standard  

te (pronoun, 3rd person, genitive, singular) = of you 

kāryākāryavyavasthitau (kārya + akārya + vyavasthitau) (masculine, accusative, dual) = the determinations of what is to be done and what is not to be done 


jñātvā (gerund) (indeclinable) = having known 

śāstravidhānoktam (śāstra + vidhāna + uktam) (neuter, accusative, singular) = declared by scriptural injunction  

karma (neuter, accusative, singular) = action

kartum (infinitive) (indeclinable) = to do 

iha (adverb) (indeclinable) = here

arhasi (present tense, 2nd person, singular) = you are able
