Bhagavad Gita: Chapter 16/Verse 22

एतैर्विमुक्तः कौन्तेय तमोद्वारैस्त्रिभिर्नरः ।


आचरत्यात्मनः श्रेयस्ततो याति परां गतिम् ॥१६- २२॥

etairvimuktaḥ kaunteya tamodvāraistribhirnaraḥ ।

ācaratyātmanaḥ śreyastato yāti parāṃ gatim ॥16- 22॥

A human being released from these three gates of tamas, does the best for oneself. Thereupon one goes to the highest path, Son of Kunti. 


etais (masculine, instrumental, plural) = by these 

vimuktas (past passive participle, masculine, nominative, plural) = released  

kaunteya (masculine, vocative, singular) = Son of Kunti (epithet of Arjuna)

tamodvārais (neuter, instrumental, plural) = by gates of tamas

tribhis (neuter, instrumental, plural) = by three 

naras (masculine, nominative, singular) = a human being 


ācarati (present tense, 3rd person, singular) = one does 

ātmanas (masculine, genitive, singular) = of the self 

śreyas (superlative, masculine, nominative, singular) = best 

tatas (adverb) (indeclinable) = thereupon 

yāti (present tense, 3rd person, singular) = one goes 

parām (feminine, accusative, singular) = highest  

gatim (feminine, accusative, singular) = path
