Bhagavad Gita: Chapter 8/Verse 2

अधियज्ञः कथं कोऽत्र देहेऽस्मिन्मधुसूदन ।

प्रयाणकाले च कथं ज्ञेयोऽसि नियतात्मभिः ॥८- २॥

adhiyajñaḥ kathaṃ ko'tra dehe'sminmadhusūdana ।

prayāṇakāle ca kathaṃ jñeyo'si niyatātmabhiḥ ॥8- 2॥


How and who is the Lord of Sacrifice here in this body, Slayer of Madhu? And how, at the time of death, are you to be known by selves who are controlled?


adhiyajñam (adhi + yajñam) (masculine, accusative, singular) = the Lord of the Sacrifice 

katham (interrogative) (indeclinable) = how

kas (interogative) (masculine, nominative, singular) = who

atra (adverb) (indeclinable) = here

dehe (neuter, locative, singular) = in the body

asmin (neuter, locative, singular) = in this 

madhusūdana (masculine, vocative, singular) = Slayer of Madhu (epithet of Krishna)  



prayāṇakāle (masculine, locative, singular) = at the time of death

ca (conjunction) (indeclinable) = and 

katham (interrogative) (indeclinable) = how

jñeyas (gerundive, masculine, nominative, singular) = to be known  

asi (present tense, 2nd person, singular) = you are 

niyatātmabhis (niyata + ātmabhis) (masculine, instrumental, plural) = by selves who are controlled
