Bhagavad Gita: Chapter 6/Verse 19

यथा दीपो निवातस्थो नेङ्गते सोपमा स्मृता ।


योगिनो यतचित्तस्य युञ्जतो योगमात्मनः ॥६- १९॥

yathā dīpo nivātastho neṅgate sopamā smṛtā ।

yogino yatacittasya yuñjato yogamātmanaḥ ॥6- 19॥

As a lamp standing sheltered from the wind does not flicker, similarity is that declared of the yogin with thought controlled yoked with the yoga of the self. 



yathā (adverb) (indeclinable) = as


dīpas (masculine, nominative, singular) = lamp


nivātasthas (nivāta + sthas) (masculine, nominative, singular) = standing sheltered from the wind


na (adverb) (indeclinable) = not


iṅgate (present tense, 3rd person, singular) = it flickers


sā (pronoun, 3rd person, feminine, nominative, singular) = that


upamā (comparative device, feminine, nominative, singular) = like


smṛtā (feminine, nominative, singular) = declared as 


yoginas (masculine, genitive, singular) = of the yogin

yatacittasya (yata + cittasya) (masculine, genitive, singular) = of the thought controlled 


yuñjatas (present participle, masculine, genitive, singular) = of the yoked


yogam (masculine, accusative, singular) = yoga


ātmanas (masculine, genitive, singular) = of the self
