Bhagavad Gita: Chapter 5/Verse 16

ज्ञानेन तु तदज्ञानं येषां नाशितमात्मनः ।

तेषामादित्यवज्ज्ञानं प्रकाशयति तत्परम् ॥५- १६॥

jñānena tu tadajñānaṃ yeṣāṃ nāśitamātmanaḥ ।

teṣāmādityavajjñānaṃ prakāśayati tatparam ॥5- 16॥

However, of whom that ignorance is destroyed by knowledge, of them that knowledge of the self causes the supreme one to shine like the sun. 


jñānena (neuter, instrumental, singular) = by knowledge

tu (conjunction) (indeclinable) = however

tad (pronoun, 3rd person, neuter, nominative, singular) = that

ajñānam (neuter, nominative, singular) = ignorance 

yeṣām (pronoun, masculine, genitive, plural) = of whom

nāśitam (past passive participle, neuter, nominative, singular) = destroyed 

ātmanas (masculine, genitive, singular)  = of the self

teṣām (pronoun, masculine, genitive, plural) = of them 

ādityavat (indeclinable) = like the sun 

jñānam (neuter, nominative, singular) = knowledge  

prakāśayati (causative, 3rd person, singular) =it causes to shine

tad (pronoun, 3rd person, neuter, nominative, singular) = that 

param (neuter, accusative, singular) = supreme one
