Bhagavad Gita: Chapter 5/Verse 17

तद्‌बुद्धयस्तदात्मानस्तन्निष्ठास्तत्परायणाः ।

गच्छन्त्यपुनरावृत्तिं ज्ञाननिर्धूतकल्मषाः ॥५- १७॥

tad‌buddhayastadātmānastanniṣṭhāstatparāyaṇāḥ ।

gacchantyapunarāvṛttiṃ jñānanirdhūtakalmaṣāḥ ॥5- 17॥


Whose wisdom are in that, the self in that, abiding in that, having that as the highest aim, and those whose sins are shaken off by knowledge, they go not again to the cycle of birth and death.


tad‌buddhayas (tad‌ + buddhayas) (compound) (masculine, nominative, plural) = whose wisdom are in that 

tadātmānas (masculine, nominative, plural) = whose self is in that 

tanniṣṭhās (masculine, nominative, plural) = who are abiding in that 

tatparāyaṇās  (masculine, nominative, plural) = who having that as the highest aim 

gacchanti (present tense, 3rd person, plural) = they go 


apunar (adverb) (indeclinable) = not again

āvṛttim (feminine, accusative, singular) = to the cycle of birth and death

jñānanirdhūtakalmaṣās (jñāna + nirdhūta + kalmaṣās) (compound) (masculine, nominative, plural) = those whose sins are shaken off by knowledge
