Bhagavad Gita: Chapter 5/Verse 10

ब्रह्मण्याधाय कर्माणि सङ्गं त्यक्त्वा करोति यः ।

लिप्यते न स पापेन पद्मपत्रमिवाम्भसा ॥५- १०॥


brahmaṇyādhāya karmāṇi saṅgaṃ tyaktvā karoti yaḥ ।

lipyate na sa pāpena padmapatramivāmbhasā ॥5- 10॥

Having placed actions in Brahman, having abandoned attachment, one who does is not defiled by evil. Like a leaf of a lotus out of the water.



brahmaṇi (neuter, locative, singular) = in Brahman 


ādhāya (gerund) (indeclinable) = having placed 


karmāṇi (neuter, accusative, plural) = actions


saṅgam (masculine, accusative, singular) = attachment 


tyaktvā (gerund) (indeclinable) = having abandoned 


karoti (present tense, 3rd person, singular) = one does 


yas (pronoun, 3rd person, masculine, nominative, singular) = who


lipyate (present tense, 3rd person, singular) = one is defiled 


na (adverb) (indeclinable) = not


sas (pronoun, 3rd person, masculine, nominative, singular) = one


pāpena (neuter, instrumental, singular) = by evil 


padmapatram (padma + patram) (compound) (neuter, nominative, singular) = leaf of a lotus 


iva (preposition) (indeclinable) = like


ambhasā (neuter, instrumental, singular) = out of the water
