Bhagavad Gita: Chapter 4/Verse 42

तस्मादज्ञानसम्भूतं हृत्स्थं ज्ञानासिनात्मनः ।

छित्त्वैनं संशयं योगमातिष्ठोत्तिष्ठ भारत ॥४-४२॥

tasmādajñānasambhūtaṃ hṛtsthaṃ jñānāsinātmanaḥ ।

chittvainaṃ saṃśayaṃ yogamātiṣṭhottiṣṭha bhārata ॥4-42॥

Therefore, having cut into pieces this doubt born in ignorance abiding in the heart with the sword of knowledge of the self, you must stand up and perform yoga, Descendant of Bharata.  



tasmāt (masculine, ablative, singular) = therefore


ajñānasambhūtam (ajñāna + sambhūtam) (compound) (masculine, accusative, singular) = born in ignorance  


hṛtstham (masculine, accusative, singular) = abiding in the heart 


jñānāsinātmanas (jñāna + asinā) (compound) (masculine, instrumental, singular) = with the sword of knowledge 


ātmanas (masculine, genitive, singular) = of the self 



chittva (gerund) (indeclinable) = having cut into pieces

enam (masculine, accusative, singular) = this


saṃśayam (masculine, accusative, singular) = doubt


yogam (masculine, accusative, singular) = yoga


ātiṣṭha (imperative, 2nd person, singular) = you must perform


uttiṣṭha (imperative, 2nd person, singular) =  you must stand up


bhārata (masculine, vocative, singular) = Descendant of Bharata
