Chapter 1/Verse 22

यावदेतान्निरिक्षेऽहं योद्‌धुकामानवस्थितान् ।

कैर्मया सह योद्धव्यमस्मिन् रणसमुद्यमे ॥१-२२॥

yāvadetānnirikṣe'haṃ yod‌dhukāmānavasthitān ।

kairmayā saha yoddhavyamasmin raṇasamudyame

॥1-22॥


I gaze at all these [warriors] standing firm, eager to fight. Whom will fight with me in this epic battle?



yāvat (adverb) (indeclinable) = all

etān (masculine, accusative, plural) = these

nirikṣe (verb root: īkṣ) (nir + ikṣe) (ātmanepada, 1st person, singular) = I gaze
