Bhagavad Gita: Chapter 2/Verse 21

वेदाविनाशिनं नित्यं य एनमजमव्ययम् ।
कथं स पुरुषः पार्थ कं घातयति हन्ति कम् ॥२- २१॥


vedāvināśinaṃ nityaṃ ya enamajamavyayam ।

kathaṃ sa puruṣaḥ pārtha kaṃ ghātayati hanti kam ॥2- 21॥

Him, the man, who [has] knowledge of this indestructible, eternal, unborn, imperishable. How and whom causes him to kill and whom does he kill, O son-of-Prithā?


Word-for-word translation

vedāvināśinam (veda + avināśinam) (compound) (accusative, singular) = knowledge of the indestructible 

nityam (adjective) (accusative, singular) = eternal

yas (pronoun, nominative, singular) = who 

enam (pronoun, 3rd person, accusative, singular) = this

ajam (adjective) (accusative, singular) = unborn

avyayam (adjective) (accusative, singular) = imperishable 


katham (adverb) (indeclinable) = how?

sa (pronoun, 3rd person, nominative, singular) = him

puruṣas (nominative, singular) = man 

pārtha (vocative, singular) = O son-of-Prithā

Commentary

This verse has a good mix of relative, correlative, and interrogative markers.
